Verena Kuni
born november 1966; studied art history, german literature and media theory, and psychology at Philipps-Universität Marburg/Lahn and Universität Hamburg. 1996-2001 collaborating researcher and teacher in art theory at the Fine Arts department at Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz. Co-Foundress of the Arbeitskreis Frauenförderung at the Fine Arts department and member of the Interdisziplinärer Arbeitskreis Frauenforschung at the Johannes Gutenberg-Universität.

Since May 2001 at the Dept. of Art History, University of Trier. Teaching assignments at the Universität des Saarlandes, the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg, the TU Darmstadt, the Kunsthochschule in Bergen/Norwegen, the HfG Offenbach as well as in the area of adult education. Co-founder of the filiale zeitgenössische kunst gender vermittlung / Ulmer Verein e.V.

Memberships: Marburger Kunstverein, Frankfurter Kunstverein, Deutsche Gesellschaft für Ästhetik e.V., old boys network (see the area old boyz' networking on these pages), webgrrls, Verband deutscher Kunsthistoriker e.V. (VDK), Ulmer Verein e.V./Sektion Frauenforschung and Arbeitsgruppe Women Artists in the 20th Century.

Free lance curator and writer (among others for neue bildende kunst/Berlin, Kunst-Bulletin/Zurich, Frieze/London, Eikon/Vienna, Camera Austria/Graz, Springer/Vienna, Telepolis, BlitzReview und RadioX/Francfort with an autonomous editorial board, uni.versal, and GUNSTradio). 1998 nominated for the Carl Einstein-Award for young art critics, 1999 and again 2000 nominated for the art critic's award of AdKV.

Research, teachings, lectures and publications on the theory and history of contemporary art and culture.

Current priorities: performance(s) of authorship and subject(ivity); artists' myths; relations between art and science; history, theory and aesthetics of the electronic arts; net.art / net culture; gender studies in art and media theory.
